Pinarello bicycles as a company was born in the late forties in Catena di Villorba.

Giovanni Pinarello received his initial information on the construction of bicycles even before the WW2, at the age of 15, at the Paglianti company, and also at his home in Catena during the competition.

Most city bike frames are designed in-house, while racing bike frames are purchased from third-party designers who are experts in the field.

Parts of the future bicycle are painted and assembled in an old warehouse in the Pinarello house in the suburbs of Treviso.

It was manual labor from start to finish, which did not allow the production of a large number of bicycles, and therefore take its place in this market.

And only in 1952 there is an opportunity to start your own business. It was in that year that Giovanni Pinarello at the last moment had to refuse to participate in the Giro D'Italia, making room for Pasqualino Fornar.

The forced refusal was reimbursed by the Bottechia team, for which Pinarello performed as a professional, in the amount of 100,000 lire.

It was this money, big for those times, that helped Giovanni open his first store in Treviso.

Today Pinarello is one of the greatest Italian bicycle equipment companies.

They produce over 26,000 bicycles and 7,000 frames annually under the Pinarello and Opera brands. 70% of their products are exported (mainly for Japan, USA, Australia and Spain).

Now the company is run by the children of Giovanni Pinarello: Carla, Fausto and Andrea. Fausto Pinarello, the current president of the company, was born in 1962, and already in 1979, at the age of 17, began working for his father's company.

Thirty years later, he knows every secret of every Pinarello bike. It was he who announced that in 2010 the British team Sky will be riding Pinarello bicycles.
